dear baby brother

This week while Alena and I were playing around in my studio I over heard her writing a note to her brother. It was such a sweet sentiment I had to write it down before I forgot. I guess despite her verbal acceptance of having a brother at times she still longs for that little sister.

It seems like there are so many situations throughout the days that quotes like this come up. I always think I need to write it down right away and yet the moment passes and I forget. I hope to challenge myself to be more aware of these times and write them down as they come.

What great moments or conversations have you observed this week? Do you find yourself documenting them, if so how?

Trying to capture moments with movies, because the sounds we hear keep changing. Already forgot what that dolphin call/ferret chortle infant sound is like. :(

It is nice to hear her working these things out.

Ada told me she saw three benches and three benches (two sets) and when I asked how many that was all together she said six. Impressed, I told her she just did math. She said: That means I am a grown up.

This is beyond sweet.

I've been meaning to write a post with a little compendium of Sophie-isms, including a few songs she made up recently (!) I write them on the calendar when there's a gem. Primarily because I always know where the calendar is : )

Recent conversation while S was on the potty:
Me: "Sophie, let's stop talking now so you can concentrate."
Sophie: (whispering loudly) "Okay Mommy. But then I just have one question. What is concentrate?"

that is so, so sweet. I predict she'll come around on the brother thing.

Ella is not really talking full sentences yet, but yesterday I let her watch Mr Rogers for the first time and when he was finished singing a song about how special you are, she turned to me and in a very sweet voice said "special"

One of her very first senteces a few weeks ago was: "thank...you... ma...ma" after giving her a treat. Each syllable was very pronounced and thought out, and deliberate.
