It's a...

baby with

BOY parts!

It took a good hour of ultrasound before we got the news but in the end there was no doubt that it's a boy. Alena's first reaction was "but I want a girl". This continued for the rest of the appointment and actually almost brought me to tears seeing how sad she was with the news. By bedtime she was in much better spirits and was happily talking about her brother. We are all excited with the news and are trying to wrap our heads around what having a boy will be like. Only a few more months until we get to meet him.

It will be wonderful! I wanted a girl so bad (even up until the end) and I can't tell you how happy I am with my litte Brice. I wonder how I ever thought the gender really mattered. I'm just in love with him. Congratulations! Little brothers are so much fun...they have neat toys that are so differnt. ;)

Congrats!

You left me a comment on my blog and with blogger I can't figure out how to email anyone back. I guess I get what I pay for.

Anyway concerning the 6.5 stitches pattern, I read the instruction as casting on stitches at the point you are at. I don't remember everything, but I think you are casting on for the sleeves so you would cast on at the outer edges. I just used a backward loop to cast on the stitches. It is a lovely pattern, but I have to admit, I didn't quite understand how to put the fabric front piece on so well. She mentions something about a snap, and I haven't the faintest idea of why I would need one, so I just tacked down the flap with a few discreet stitches.

Good luck, and I'm glad I have another blog to add to my readings.

My daughter was likewise pretty hooked on the concept of a little sister. But after a while she cheered up and told me she thought it would probably be good if I had a boy. "Then daddy can have someone like you have me". Gotta love gender.

And I echo everyone else's comments, my little boy is a serious charmer, full of sweetness and uncomplicated love. I totally adore him! I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to experience both a girl and a boy. They are indeed very very different.

a boy? that's so neat. now you'll have one of each. cool. i'm envious that you learned what you're having, but me and DH really wanted the surprise. at my OB appt today my OB said to remind the delivering doc that we don't know. apparently the "It's a....." is a rare utterance for OBs anymore.
