yarn interrupted

whipup

This weekend I decided to challenge myself to make a project for Whiplash. The assignment was yarn and at once my mind was racing. I love to knit and there are many an unfinished project sitting around the house but I knew that I would not have the time to start/finish a knitting project in four days. My next challenge was to think of something quick and fun to do and then I remembered a few wool sweaters I had sitting around ready to go to Goodwill. I decided to try and transform one of them seeing that the sweaters are made of wool/yarn. This is the result.

First I started with a 100% wool pull over and felted it in the washer and dryer.

I then cut the neck and front open to make a cardigan and embellished it with a bit of leftover fabric.

It was a lot of fun and I truly enjoy the end result.

That is freaking gorgeous. It is just so cool looking - I love the shape and the ribbon on orange. Too bad for me you can't felt in a front-loading washer. And worse, that I am untalented in this area.

Awesome idea! I have this men's wool pullover I've been wanting to revamp....love the finished product. (Orange is the best color ever, I think.)

Hi and Congratulations !

Loved it from the minute I spied it, the colours, the style, that ribbon. It's gorgeous. Hope it has many more happy outings in it's new form, rather than a boring old jumper (or sweater)

What an amazing transformation! The colors, the ribbon, the fabric for the flower, and the flower's simple and elegant lines all work together perfectly. Very stylish - it looks like you bought it from Anthropologie for a bazillion bucks.
